First Quading of the year

After what has felt like the longest winter in history (shall we say the winter of my discontent?), we FINALLY had some nice weather this Easter long weekend, so we were able to get out and enjoy a ride on the quads, and our first campfire smokies of the year!  I seriously don’t think there’s much better in life than food cooked over an open fire – YUM. We had a blast, and even brought Jags along for the fun, he ran all afternoon and was pooped by the end.  A great day with my boys 🙂  We are all really looking forward to some great riding and hopefully some great weather in just a few weeks for the May Long weekend.

 

August Long Weekend

August Long is a pretty big deal around here. We don’t get a very long summer in Alberta, so what we get we definitely take advantage of, long weekends are a must!  Since starting my photography business, I’ve sort of had a deal with my hubby that I don’t book more than one long weekend wedding a year.  Those times are pretty precious to us, so that last thing I want to do is ruin it by taking a Saturday booking on every long weekend. This year we had a pretty epic camping trip planned, and many of our friends were able to make it out, which was awesome.  We headed to the Pembina River, an absolute gem of a spot just over an hour from the city. It’s an amazing spot to camp, party, relax, and best of all: float the beautiful river.  This was definitively one for the books 🙂

It’s sort of a tradition that we have going to built a 2×4 table and then decorate it with the weekend theme.  Last year we were limited to the pencils and sharpies we had on hand – this year I was resourceful and brought some paints and brushes.  Good time had by all!

Summertime! Camping

An activity that Ben and I have always enjoyed together has been camping. We’ve had some pretty awesome weekends in the summer. This year he talked me into getting quads, so our camping has revolved primarily around that so far.  It’s been a lot of fun, albeit a little muddy at times!  It’s so nice to get out of the city and just enjoy nature, even if it doesn’t always show us the nicest side of the weather, it’s still always a blast!  Here’s a few photos from our summer camp outs so far.
