Favorites – Gap Breathe

I have to share this amazing new workout tank!!  I am always on the hunt for something that is cute, comfortable, and functional – bonus points if it crosses the line from workout wear to daily wear.  This tank is awesome, hands down!  It can be worn two ways, comes in a array of colors, and is nice & breezy for hot summer workouts.  I love it for running and upright work, it does move around a bit for things like burpees and downward dog, so I’d wear it according to your plan. Loving it though!  I’m trying hard to keep up with my fitness goals, and cute workout gear really helps!

Tall Girls Rejoice!

As an above average height lady (5′ 10″ to be exact), it has been a constant struggle to find clothes that fit properly.  Knowing that I’ve had this battle I realize there must be others, so I decided to share some of my favorite resources for where I find fashionable (and reasonably priced) clothing to fit my tall frame. Bonus – all these stores ship to Canada for all my Northern friends 🙂

Alloy Apparel loooooooove this store!  Warning to read the reviews as I have found the pants tend to run big sometimes.  Most of the pants go up to 37″ long (what??!), you don’t know excitement until you see a tall lady who has ankle bunching with a pair of skinnies 😉  They also make super cute tall maxi dresses. Shipping is a bit pricey, so you have to make sure you buy enough to make it worth while, pretty slow shipping too.

Old Navy Tall While many of the things at Old Navy are “mom-ish”, they actually make some awesome sweater dresses in extended length, I often get complimented on things I paid next to nothing for from Old Navy. They have awesome sales all the time and shipping is usually free and very fast. Be sure to size down, as with all Gap stores they are quite vanity sized.  They’ve come out with some great tanks, and it’s SO nice to have ones that are long enough and look like they are intended!

JCrew Their tall pants are amazing, and fit pretty true to size.  Watch for sales, it makes their stuff way more affordable.

TTYA: Taller than your average  A bit more pricey, but a great resource for all your jersey wardrobe staples.

American Eagle (ONLINE) You can order X-long (35″ inseam) on their online store, they have a lot of great styles, and I am loving the fit!  The great thing about American Eagle is they have free, no hassle returns to their storefronts. I was unsure of sizing (baby – mom bod – working out hard), not idea where I was at, so I ordered both possible sizes in a couple of pairs and was able to just return them at the mall here.  Great!! If you watch, they often put things on sale or have daily specials, so watch for that when you’re ready to place an order.

Lulu Lemon My go-to for leggings (non sheer-bum variety). Their Wunder Unders are the absolute BEST, love the high waisted version to (c-section mama friends – these are where it’s at for recovery!).  They don’t make a ‘long’, however the standard full tight is long enough that I have a slight extra at the bottom, so I love them – I am partial to the ‘full on luon’ fabric.  FREE shipping, and super quick.

Favorite Canadian Maternity Wear stores

One of the big changes that obviously comes with the changing pregnancy body is the clothes. I’ve actually always been really excited about dressing my baby bump, there are so may adorable outfits on Pinterest that look so cute!  The problem is, finding places to get all these cute clothes. Here are some of my favorite stores (and sites) for awesome maternity gear, all available in Canada!  Since I work in an office, I did have to buy a few pieces, I couldn’t float by on my existing maxi dresses all summer, as much as I’d like to.

H&M: Their maternity department is VERY small, like they probably have 15 items at any given time – it’s typically located near the baby section.  I found awesome pieces there – great work pants (and long enough for my 5′ 10″ frame – WIN!) and adorable summer dresses.  Really reasonable prices. Check back often as their stock often changes.

Wal-Mart: Again, they have hardly anything, but it’s a great spot to grab the basics – Maternity leggings in black and grey, maternity undies (Yes, you will need these!), comfortable sports bras and tanks in basic colors. These are great for mixing up your existing wardrobe, and super cheap so you spend a ton on things you won’t use later.  I also got a couple swimsuit separates here just in my new larger size, because I was not going to pay over $100 for a maternity suit at some other stores, I don’t see the point, when who knows if my next pregnancy will take place over a summer season.

Motherhood Maternity: This is a true Maternity store, so the prices definitely reflect as such. It’s not cheap, but if you sign up for the email program, you can get a head’s up on great deals.  Tall girls savior – they make a Long in their skinny maternity jeans.  I wanted one pair of jeans for the pregnancy, and I’m a big fan of the pair I got here, they are super cute.  This is where I’ve also found some really awesome dresses for work. I jumped on a $20 dress sale and had them shipped straight to my house!  Their website has everything under the sun as far as styles go, I just got what I really needed there and tried for cheaper options for basic items.

Thyme Maternity: Again, a true maternity store with higher price point.  I got a couple of pairs of work-out leggings here, as my usual ones were getting way too tight around the waist.  If there is anything I say is a MUST for the active mama-to-be, it’s a pair or two of good work out pants – if they aren’t comfortable, you’re not going to feel motivated to work-out.  I’ve found the tops that I already have are long enough that I haven’t paid more money for maternity specific ones.

Old Navy: Sadly Old Navy does not show us Canadians a lot of love in the maternity department.  The store has the tiniest section of maternity wear, and the Canadian site does not offer any 😦  I’m always seeing the cutest things in my mom forums of Old Navy purchases and very sad that I cannot partake.  I did buy a couple of regular dresses in a size up, and those have worked well for me still, and I got to get the great Old Navy pricing on them.   I did get a pair of maternity leggings here, and I have to say that the Wal-Mart ones were better for me, much less sheer. I didn’t care for the ON ones at all.  They carry belly bands in all colors, much cheaper than buying at a Maternity store.

Pink Blush Maternity: This is not a Canadian store, but does offer fairly reasonable shipping rates.  They have some gorgeous clothes, this is the place if you need cute dresses and maxi skirts! Shipping was pretty quick, I think I hate my order in about ten days.

Non-Maternity Stores with Basics:

Bootlegger: These racerback tanks are my absolute favorite, I have them in like ten colors.  I bought a few and sized up for my growing belly – since they are really long to begin with, they are perfect!  Buying basics like tanks in a maternity store is just too pricey in my opinion.

Dynamite:  I found a couple of cute empire waste tunics that I can grow into, and will still be fashionable once I’m back to normal.  If they have enough give, you don’t need to size up.

Feel free to check out my Pinterest board with some of my favorite outfits, I’m always looking for great inspiration on how to dress this little bump of mine!
